Premier League clubs therefore have one month to do their business before squads are locked for the rest of the 2026-27 season.

How deadline day works

Deals must be agreed and the paperwork submitted before the deadline. In recent seasons, clubs have been able to lodge a "deal sheet" shortly before the window closes to buy extra time to complete the registration of a transfer that is already agreed. Loans are especially common in January, because they let clubs fill gaps without committing big fees mid-season.

Which clubs might need to act?
