Bayern: unbeaten but not untouchable
Bayern are chasing a 14th title in 15 seasons and have the best goal difference in the league, but two draws have left them two points off the top. Their week did not get easier in Europe, where they drew 3–3 at Viking FK. Arsenal visit Munich on Wednesday.
Kane's slow start — by his standards
Harry Kane has won the Torjägerkanone in each of his three seasons at Bayern, with 36, 26 and 38 goals. This season he has three so far. Patrik Schick of Bayer Leverkusen leads the chart with five, ahead of a group on four that includes Bayern's Michael Olise and RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku. Freiburg and Dortmund set the pace
Freiburg's unbeaten start makes them the early story of the season. Dortmund are level on points, though they suffered a surprise 1–0 Champions League defeat at Bodø/Glimt in midweek.
Trouble at the bottom
Borussia Mönchengladbach are still without a point and sit bottom. Hoffenheim, who are playing in Europe this season, are 17th with three points. Schalke, Elversberg and Paderborn were promoted this summer.
